iOS 7 Jailbreak Achieved: Developer Tweets Bout The Same

iOS 7 jailbreak has been achieved. Even though in its infancy stages, a tweet by a famous developer from the jailbreak community, tweeted a picture of an iPod 5 with iOS 7 that had Activator seem to be running on it. Now activator is a famous iOS cydia teak that can only be installed if your devices is jailbroken.

Ever since the launch of Apple’s “revamped” iOS, the media went all out to criticize the next iteration. iOS 7 is something that Apple claims to be, “The best thing to happen to the iPhone since the iPhone itself.” Launched in all its glory some weeks ago, Apple released the beta version to registered developers. Soon people all over the world with developer accounts began downloading the same. iOS 7 however, did not go down well with people who found the new icons to be to flashy. The new UI was called a rip off of Android and questions on the ability to innovate was questioned yet again. It has been some time now and people have begun to accept that this is what iOS is going to be like. But this is not how your iOS should look like. Like every year, this year too many developers will be working to achieve a jailbreak and work on it has apparently begun. In fact a famous a developer and a known name in the jailbreak community, Ryan Petritch already claims to have jailbroken the Beta 2 of iOS 7. That’s right, there may already be an iOS 7 Jailbreak out there. The details of the same however, are yet to be disclosed.

news

The iOS 7 jailbreak that the developer tweeted shows an image of an error given by activator saying that the version in use (iOS 7) is “too new” for it to be compatible with. The jailbreak is not currently made available to the public as it needs a lot more tweaking and fuixes and is very beta. Be rest assured that no jailbreak will be released until a stable version of iOS 7 makes its way out onto your iDSevice. While iOS 7 Jailbreak is still in its infancy it does crush Apple’s hope of an un jailbreakable version of it OS.

[Breaking] EA Hikes Game Prices in India!

news1

There have been many rumors going around the internet this last few months, regarding the significant price hike of Electronics Arts games in India. Many Indian average PC gamers were hoping and praying that this should not be true. I came home from work last night and saw loads of notifications on Facebook. Curious at first, I soon came to realized the truth. All EA’s flagship games are on pre order! There was no controlling me from going on an buy-em-all spree..until I clicked on the link.

Many online resellers like Game4u , Flipkart have placed EA’s latest upcoming games for pre-order. It seems like that the rumors were true. Most of the gamers were happy to see it on preorders and many of them got shocked to see the price of the games like Battlefield 4, Need for speed and Fifa 14.

news1

New prices are as follows:

Battlefield 4 3499 INR
Need for Speed Rivals- 3499 INR
Fifa 20142499 INR

Expect to see a similar price tag on more upcoming EA titles.
As you can see , the prices of the games is almost triple the amount before the hike. EA was looking to increase the price and make is equal to the international price. People tried to buy games from Indian origin websites through some proxies with significantly less price. There was no protection implemented against it. Thus, EA was suffering major loss.
news2

This was going to happen anyway as there was increase in dollar price. But no one knew that the amount would be triple the amount they were used to pay. Most of the Indian PC gamer audience is unhappy with unfair pricing. You might just say that the pricing is fair as gamers in other countries pay 60$ for a game. But you have to understand low priced PC games is the reason why Indian gamer was so insisting of building himself a Gaming PC. Major part of the Indian gaming community own PC’s. PC hardware costs more in Indian market. So investment in the gaming PC might be more than console, but you have to look at the future point of view. You were better off buying a decent Next-gen gaming PC with better configuration compared to a console and spend less to buy PC games which were not only less expensive but much more advanced in graphics quality.

You will stumble upon quotes like this -
“Now that the game pricing is same, gamers might be better off with consoles as there are much better console exclusive goodness.”

If you were to head over to the Indian gaming communities on facebook or various forums, Gamers are really unhappy with EA right now. You will even see hordes of new topics related to this all over facebook pages, peoples timelines etc. Many fans have even decided not to pre-order their favorite sequels.
news3

Of course gamers won’t be happy to pay triple the amount they used to pay before. Changing price from 20$ to 60$ is major step which might just go against EA sooner or later. 1700INR or 1800INR was a reasonable price tag to opt for. EA should have made some security arrangements in order to reduce losses from other countries. Changing regional pricing policy won’t be accepted if the difference is so huge. Many other big names such as Ubisoft have already increased their price tag on games due to this.  Watch dogs which was priced 999INR for pre-order, is now available for 1500INR. It will be interesting to see how these games will sell in India after this price hike.

What do you think about this sudden price hike? Would you rather pre-order right now to get your gaming titles for cheaper? Let us know in the comments below!

Samsung Galaxy S4 Shipments Surpass 20 Million in 2 months

Only a few weeks back, on May 23, 2013, Samsung announced that the Samsung Galaxy S4 shipments through global channels had crossed the 10 million mark, and now reports all over the Internet suggest that in just a little over a month, the company managed to double that number.
news

Overseas reports are indicating that Samsung has shipped a total of 20 million Galaxy S4 devices to their global partners. J.K. Shin, Samsung’s CEO, confirmed this figure to reporters in Korea and that Samsung has achieved this milestone within 2 months. Note that this number is not total sales to customers, but specifically to carriers and retailers around the world.

Its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S III took about 100 days to get to 20 million, so the galaxy S4 is selling 1.7 times faster. This speed reportedly put the Galaxy S4 at the #1 position in shipments for Q2 this year. Despite reports (which were denied) of Samsung cutting down orders for Galaxy S4 parts, the company’s flagship is selling very well.

The Korean firm’s future calculations may get a little fragmented, however, since it has launched a number of Galaxy S4 variants like the Galaxy S4 Zoom, Mini, LTE-A, and Active to extend the reach and appeal of the device to new customer segments.

With Consoles Getting Better Every Day, Should You Still Buy New PC Games?

h

Even the most powerful games console cannot match the technical specifications of a high-end PC. Perhaps it is the continued evolution of consoles which is contributing to developers making huge efforts with their PC releases. The continued high quality of many of today’s PC games titles has led to an increase in sales for the platform and once again opened up the classic argument over whether to buy your games brand new or wait for a second-hand copy. While both have their advantages, there are many more compelling reasons to purchase a shiny new game than a used one.

Enticing Purchase Price

Unlike new releases for consoles such as the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, brand new titles released on the PC platform are usually very competitively priced. This eliminates the need to search out a second-hand copy simply because you can’t afford the price of a new one. Gamers with consoles actively seek out used games because the prices of new releases are often so high to begin with. Luckily for PC gamers, this is often not the case.

Activation Codes

Many PC games require activation codes and the physical act of registering the game before play can commence. When purchasing a second-hand PC game, you can never be sure that the previous owner has noted the activation code and left in in the box. Often, even if you have the code, it is still not possible to play the game as it may have been registered and locked to another machine. Games such as the World of Warcraft series are account driven and, as such, can only be played on the machine the game was originally registered to. Of course, buying your game brand new eliminates any chance of these problems occurring.

Legal Downloads

With a large number of today’s best PC games available for legal download straight on to your machine, what is the point of holding out for a second-hand physical copy? The downloadable versions of these games are cheaper in price anyway, making the purchase of a used game rather unnecessary and not financially viable. Today, buying a new PC game is now easier than ever before.

Personal Satisfaction

The build-up to a highly anticipated new game release can be an exciting time. You have kept up to date with the game’s development from the beginning and have carefully read all of the advanced reviews. Now, you just have to patiently await release day. When that date finally rolls around, there is nothing quite like the personal satisfaction of knowing you are amongst the first to get your hands on a copy. With so many superb titles now being released on the PC platform, those red-letter days are becoming ever-more frequent and long may they continue.

Steve Gladwin is a seasoned writer who has been an avid player of video games for many years, particularly on the PC platform. He describes buying a new PC game as one of his greatest pleasures.

[App Review] Floating Notifications

Pop notifications have been around since sometime now and we’re here to tell you about a fun way to completely change how you interact with incoming Notifications on your Android with, Floating Notifications.

Just recently Facebook came up with round-creative idea for pop-up notifications (they quite literally popped the hell out of the screen). “Chatheads” were formerly meant to be a part of the Facebook Home launcher but they later went on to integrate it with the Facebook Messenger application. For the all the late-comers, Chatheads are small circle which pop-up everytime you get a Facebook message, you simply hit the Chathead for the message space to pop-down for you to reply back, without even opening the app.
h

Paranoid Android, a renowned developer for the AOSP, soon adopted this feature in their ROM calling it “Halo”. In the early release, “Halo” wasn’t nearly as promising as Chatheads. Although, with time, PA very recently released the developed iteration of “Halo”. The new one looks very stable and has a lot more functionality to it, for eg. Smoother and optimized multitasking across several applications.

Which brings us to Floating Notifications, there is a recent app developed which implements this Halo feature called Floating notifications. This app enables you to check your notifications for IMs and also lets you assign shortcuts to Apps.

H
H

Layout

Layout of the app is tabular and simple. A picture below shows you App notifications, customize and settings tab. It will let you be the king here and customize the size, theme color and shortcuts too.

The app is new and frankly has some visual bugs which are evident but will be fixed in later updates. Positively, Floating Notifications is a really good app, snappy interface and style. We recommend you to definitely check this floating application!.

PS: There is some trouble with TTS Accessibility in Samsung phones. This app is available in play store as trial and paid version

Windows 8.1 Download: Get the Preview Officially

Windows 8.1 download is now available on line via Microsoft’s official site. You can get your hands on the preview of Windows 8.1 and get the windows 8.1 download by downloading a 2 GB EXE file. The steps are pretty simple. Just log onto the website and enter your credentials which include your login ID and password.
H

You will require a minimum of 2GB empty space on your hard drive, though the more space there is, the better it will be. This preview of Windows 8.1 is only available to download for people who are running Windows 8 with a legal product key and license. While the Windows 8.1 download is available, it must be noted that it is just a preview. Microsoft has always worked in this way. They release preview builds for the audience which acts as a sneak peak into what Microsoft has to offer. Every new iteration of Windows usually gets such builds and the official licenses are only given to developers who test the builds as beta testers.

The process is fairly easy to follow and is fairly automated. Once Windows 8.1 download is completed it automatically installs and asks you to reboot. You may have to reboot more than once as there are some glitches we faced while installing. Once your laptop/PC has booted up the process to setup windows 8.1 is flawless.

Just follow all the messages and prompts on your screen and get the latest Windows 8.1 preview build!

Apple seeds second beta of iOS 7 to developers

Home

Apple has seeded the seeded the second beta of iOS 7 to developers who're testing the new operating system.

The update comes exactly two weeks after the release of the first beta of the operating system. It was also first showcased during the keynote at Apple's WWDC event on the same day.

The update which is available over the air, mentions that it contains bug fixes and improvements. However, the most major feature of the second beta is that it also includes support for the iPad and iPad mini, which were left out when Apple released the first beta limited to the iPhone and iPod touch devices.

The update reportedly brings back the Voice Memos app that lets users record voice notes, which was missing in the first beta. The update also brings some minor cosmetic changes including tweaked music playback controls in the lock screen, a new Clock app icon in the Control Center, revamped notification app and Newsstand interface. It also brings new Male and Female Siri voices which were announced during the WWDC keynote.

Apple will release several beta versions of iOS 7 before it seeds the final release in Fall (September/ October), which will be available to everyone and not just registered developers.

Apple unveiled iOS 7 on June 10th with a brand new interface, and a slew of new features. In Apple's words this is "the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone." Not only does the next iteration of the OS bring a completely overhauled user interface design, it also adds many missing features that were being offered by rival mobile platforms.

While the overall reception of the revamped design has been good, a large number of people have criticised the bright coloured icons for lack of refinement and for some inconsistent UI elements.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra announced with a whopping 6.4-inch display

Sony Xperia Z Ultra announced with a whopping 6.4-inch display

Sony has joined the phablet race, with a new smartphone sporting a whopping screen and ultra-slim dimensions.

The phone features a number of top-end features that will make this a real head-turner when it comes to choosing your next smartphone, not least the Snapdragon 800 CPU that's clocked at 2.2GHz in a quad-core arrangement.

It's also managed to pack in a 6.44-inch 1080p screen while maintaining a 6.5mm thickness - it's hard to explain just how thin this thing feels, but trust us on this one.

Not waterproof...

In true Sony style the Xperia Z Ultra is both water-resistant (a depth of 1.5m for 30 minutes, or being subjected to 'low pressure jets of water') and dust resistant too - both IP55 and IP58 certified. The headphone port is uncovered now too, in the same way Samsung has done on the Galaxy S4 Active.

Another interesting innovation is the ability to write on the device - which, in itself, isn't much to write home about. But you can sketch or note on the Sony Xperia Z Ultra with a normal pencil, or any 'selected stylus or pen', meaning you can get a decent level of detail when idly drawing pictures of rude things.

The phone will use an X Reality on a Triluminous display - if you're not up on the Sony vernacular, that means it's the same technology as used in the larger Sony TVs as well as an optimised engine that will help re-introduce lost pixels while improving colour reproduction too.

Colour palette

The phone will be available in purple, white and black, and will be running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean under the hood - rumours of it being the first handset to pack 4.3 seem to have been wide of the mark, which is a shame as it won't be here until later in the year.

There's 'only' an 8MP camera on the back, but given the slimmer frame we can understand the tradeoff. It does offer up all the Sony Exmor RS features we'd hope to see on a smartphone from the Japanese brand, so your snaps should be improved with the algorithms packed under the hood.

In true phablet style, it packs on the pounds slightly with a weight of 212g making it almost twice the weight of some modern smartphones, but with the extra screen the difference doesn't feel that marked.

We're still waiting for a Xperia Z Ultra price yet, but it looks like we'll be seeing this on our shop shelves in September or October globally.

Huawei launches the MediaPad 7 Vogue, a budget 7″ Android tablet that can also make phone calls

Home

It was leaked back in March by @evleaks, but Huawei has today confirmed the MediaPad 7 Vogue, a 7-inch Android tablet hoping to claw back some of the market share won by the Nexus 7 and iPad Mini.

The new slate, available as both a 3G and Wi-Fi only model, sports a 5-point multi-touch IPS display at a resolution of 1024×600. It’s powered by Huawei’s own K3V2 Cortex-A9 1.2GHz quad-core processor, as well as 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Consumers will likely fill that up in no time with apps, music and movies, so Huawei has also fitted a microSD slot for up to 32GB of additional space.

There’s a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of shooting 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second, alongside a 0.3-megapixel offering on the front for video calls, Vine and the odd Instagram video. Neither are particularly impressive on paper, but it’s clear that Huawei has built the MediaPad 7 Vogue for the low-end of the market.

Home

The tablet runs Android version 4.1, as well as Huawei’s own Emotion UI skin that bundles in a smattering of exclusive apps and themes. It also runs on a 4100 mAh battery, which is competent but slightly below the 4,325 mAh offering stowed in the Nexus 7.

Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group also revealed today that the MediaPad 7 Vogue is capable of making calls, putting it in league with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and the Asus Fonepad.

The tablet will be available in black and white and will be launched in China later this month, with other markets to follow. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

Facebook accidentally leaks data of 6 million users!

To put the title into perspective: The world’s largest social networking company admitted like a kid about his wrongdoing, late Friday that a technical flaw in its system allowed the phone numbers and email addresses of 6 million users over the past year to be viewed and accessed by unauthorized viewers.

What happened?

If a person went to download an archive of their Facebook account through Facebook’s Download Your Information (DYI) tool, they may have been provided with additional email addresses or telephone numbers for their contacts or people with whom they have some connection.
Facebook clarified on it’s blog -
We currently have no evidence that this bug has been exploited maliciously and we have not received complaints from users or seen anomalous behavior on the tool or site to suggest wrongdoing
We recently received a report to our White Hat program regarding a bug that may have allowed some of a person’s contact information (email or phone number) to be accessed by people who either had some contact information about that person or some connection to them.
We currently have no evidence that this bug has been exploted maliciously and we have not received complaints from users or seen anomalous behavior on the tool or site to suggest wrongdoing

Facebook accidentally leaks data of 6 million users!
Facebook says that it is “upset and embarrassed” after six million users’ phone numbers and email addresses were accidentally leaked and shared with their online contacts.

When Did It Start?

The “glitch” is told to occur from right back in 2012 till date! Facebook also mentioned that some of the users or anyone that was affected were notified about it first. It’s like telling a person on the metro that his fellow passenger robbed his wallet only after the crime was committed. Face(book) palm -_-

Leak: Windows Phone BLUE Demoed On Nokia Lumia 920; Real Or Fake?

An all new video has been uploaded on YouTube reportedly demonstrating the Windows Phone Blue update on a white Nokia Lumia 920, which is pretty far from a release as of now.
This blurry video shows off a Nokia Lumia 920 but it seems to have folders and a swipe down notification centre it seems.
The video has been uploaded to a new channel called mati leaks which further raises questions about the legitimacy of the leaked video.

Notice that the notification centre pushes the status bar down. Some aspects of this leak were recently revealed in an eBay-purchased Lumia 920 that had an early test build on board. That device was later reclaimed by Microsoft, confirming its authenticity. However, certain aspects of that build, including the notification center, were either removed or later altered, showing that this Microsoft’s plans for the future of Windows Phone 8 are still in motion.
Windows Phone 8.1 aka Windows Phone Blue, is considered to be a milestone update for the OS, but is not due until later in 2013, even possibly into 2014.

Google to open Android Nation Stores in India

NEWS

Wow this one has got us excited! Boy oh boy! Google has allegedly partnered with Spice Global to open retail stores in India with a focus on Android OS and devices. This is definitely a step forward into deeper market penetration & generating customer awareness about Android.

This will be the second stop in Asia for a Google Retail outlet, the first one ofcourse being Indonesia where Google opened up an Android Nation Store back in 2012 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Where you ask? As always, New Delhi gets the cake. According to Spice Global chariman Bhupendra Kumar Modi -
We will focus on 3G phones and phase out 2G gradually

Tell me where in India!!?

The first Indian Android Nation store will open up in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk with a 1,200-1,500 sq ft location.

Google to open Android Nation Stores in India

Singapore based Spice Global also added that they will partner with Google to open up similar Android Nation strores in the Middle East, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Africa. The Great Indian consumer will get a hands-on feature rich experience of Android devices, we believe and is essential as many get their Android products from outside the country due to product availability issues most of the time.

Google isnt the first company to have a retail store of its own, infact it is a late entrant as rivals Microsoft and Apple already have such stores in India and have been doing really well.

Microsoft Reverses Xbox One DRM Policies: No Online Check Required, Used Games Now Fully Supported

Better late than never, Microsoft certainly refers to user reactions. In the wake of the controversy and customer backlash surrounding its policy on Xbox One used games and lending of discs for its upcoming console, Microsoft has done something completely out of it’s regular tradition. It has come close to re-doing about everything that had many feeling uneasy about picking up the Xbox One come the end of the year.
In a big win for gamers, Microsoft has just announced that it is reversing the unpopular policies. Don Mattrick, president of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business, wrote in a blog post:
Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience. For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future. Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One. You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world. So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:

  • An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
  • Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions. These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray. We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds. Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.
Microsoft is now saying that used games will be freely tradable and sellable just as they currently are on Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 4. That means cheap used games for everyone. Microsoft now also says that the need for the Xbox One to sign into LIVE each day is going away, with a single connection now required at initial setup. It’s still not ideal for those with no internet connection at all, but it’s better than the alternative. Much to the relief of xbox fans worldwide, MS is also dumping the Xbox One unsupported countries drama. With all these updates, Xbox is as good as PlayStation 4 now. Only time and the pre-order stats henceforth would tell as to how the gamers around the globe are reconciling with this update.
